A Glimpse Of Her! (Episode 4)
Casey found herself
beleaguered. She sat at the balcony for hours thinking of the miserable state
she has found herself in.
She has been offered admission
to the University of Ghana to pursue a six-year Doctor in Veterinary Medicine
program. The current financial situation in the house made it clear that
enrolling was not possible.
All her friends she completed
school with has been enrolled in the university.
“Renetta, the blockheaded girl
is even in the university. How strange life can be” she mumbled.
Her monthly period was due and
she had no money to purchase a pad for herself.
“Immediately, Auntie Sheila
comes home, I will ask her for some money to buy pad. She is my last resort now”
she said.
The future looked bleak for
Casey but she still believed in God.
She took her Bible to read and
flipped to Matthew chapter 6 and verse 30 stood out for her. It reads…
6 “Wherefore, If God so clothe
the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven,
will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?”
“Hmm, I feel God is speaking
to me through this verse. If He can clothe the grass of the field, He can also
take care of me” Casey said to herself.
Afterwards, she felt strong.
The atmosphere around her felt light. She was ecstatic. She got a strong
feeling that all will be well in the house. Her Auntie will come home with a
positive news. She retired to bed.
After an hour….
“Casey! Caseey! Daughter of a
witch, come out here!!” Auntie Sheila called out to Casey.
Casey heard it and she thought
it was her imagination. “Why would someone call her a daughter of witch” she
said and went back to sleep.
The voice came again but
louder this time.
“Caseey! Caseeeey! Daughter of
a witch, I said come out here!”
Casey perceived the voice to
be her Auntie. With a surprised expression, she quickly stood up and walked
briskly out of her room.
“Auntie Sheila, what is
wrong?” she asked with a shaky voice.
“Everything is wrong! Everything
is wrong since you came to this house! I’m not surprised your parents died, how
can they parent such a child? You are a bad luck! In a blink of an eye, I want
you out of my house!” Auntie Sheila responded in an angry tone, stormed into
her room and slammed the door.
Casey broke down crying.
“Must this happen right after
I have gotten a ray of hope from the Word of God? Is that particular verse a
lie? Does God love me at all?” Casey said to herself.
