𝗦𝗘𝗘𝗞 𝗧𝗢 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗖𝗘𝗦𝗦.

 

Have you ever been somewhere going through a book or doing some stuff and got a whiff of something, and suddenly your brain zooms back to a specific memory from the 1990s that you haven't thought of since?

That's exactly what happened to me a few days ago. I had an encounter that made me look in retrospect where the journey of my becoming all began. I picked up my phone, diary etc. and went in search of the ancient landmark to trace the things I've done and the ones I'm yet to do.

In case you don't know, tracing an ancient landmark is about revisiting the makeup of a foundation. Every September, I cast my mind back to check where I was, where I am and where I need to be as I add a year to my years. 

I followed through to see the battles fought and won, the errors to be corrected, the secret and public wins and damn! I knew I had grown into that woman I once admired. 

All I could do was to take a deep breath and get ready for the next 365 days. 

Oops! I didn't tell you that I intentionally set major standard that will serve as a blueprint for the next one year. WHY DID I DO THIS?

I understood that it takes more than skills to rise to the top; it takes dealings, character, principles and a dimension of wisdom that can only be gotten in the journey to your 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴.

When I was done with my past, present and future analysis I was proud but one thing I said was: "it's dangerous for a man to be committed to anything without adequate preparation." 

This preparation is you intentionally letting go of the old you, training yourself to pass through the process and accepting who you are becoming.

Many have wished to run from it, some strongly believe in overnight success that has never worked. Maybe you have forgotten that the school of life is not like our tertiary institutions where you can miss a class and still pass the course anyways. Here, you don't miss a class. 

You don't jump, you don't cheat and you don't sort. Yes, you must pass else you repeat and delay your 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆. No story, no glory!

If I could touch the hem of the garment of a few role models I admire, I won't ask them for their success strategies. 

I will ask them of the cup they drank from, what took them to this stage, how they handled the pain and how they survived the experience without been broken. Stop hurrying to copy or envy people's results; seek to know the process! 

Yeah! 𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭, 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬.

We are in that generation that loves results. You feel sad looking like a newbie, so you rush the process just to meet up. I know that results are charismatic in nature, and we love them. 

But, any kind of success that doesn't have a track record of pain, consistency and dealings will destroy you.

Don't rush the journey to your becoming. Pass through the pain, fail and rise, submit to trainings. Rejection and depression will come, don't pray to jump over it; pray for wisdom to handle it. 

Your pain and journey is a language that will bring people and nations to you when you pass the exams.

It's high time you stopped envying the result and seek to know the process. There's a cup to drink from to be successful. This cup differs based on our destinies but be sure you are not rushing to leave the making room uncooked. 

The top is risky; it takes dealings, discipline, doggedness and the wisdom of your experience to survive.

Success doesn't just happen; it's a building.
